Let's Do This!!.... Haley | Class of 2021 | Northville High School

3 years…. that’s almost how long it’s been since I last blogged! Life gets busy, focus gets divided among the house, the kids, social media, and business, but boy do I miss this form of media. At my heart and core, I love stories. I think that’s why I do what I do. It’s why I want my sessions to be filled with movement, discussions, and laughter. I’m an introvert, but I crave connections. And I LOVE to listen to my clients talk about their experiences, their hopes and dreams. This is what gives me energy and helps me to create imagery that feels authentic and unique.

As I revive this blog, I hope you’ll enjoy seeing more images from my recent sessions. Although I photograph a variety of subjects, from seniors to families to small businesses and brands, the connecting fiber is stories through images.

Meet Haley, a Class of 2021 senior from Northville High School. Haley was looking for a session that embodied not only who she is, but her fun sense of style and fashion. Working in retail at Dear Prudence and Blackbird, in Northville, Haley has definitely cultivated a unique and fun sense of fashion, and I was so excited to see her collection of outfits and accessories!

Her cool and casual style was perfect for the locations we chose. Haley wanted both natural outdoor images in the fields of Maybury State Park, and the urban feel of downtown Detroit. With lots of walking and help from both of her parents, and her best friend, Abby, we were able to explore and create SO many images and different looks. I absolutely love urban sessions in either Detroit or Ann Arbor. There are vignettes and scenes everywhere, to match every type of personality, style, and story.

Haley’s bubbly personality and warmth shows throughout her photos, and I love that we were able to snap a few with her friend and moral support! Not to mention, we experimented a lot with the sunlight, and I think, technically, I’m most proud of the direct sun portraits that we captured during the session, and which evoke different vibes.
